How to Create a Nandroid Backup on Android

Hello, Lineage Lovers! Today we are going to learn how to create a Nandroid Backup of your device using TWRP Recovery. Nandroid Backup comes in handy if you are looking to make changes to the system files of your device. Mostly Nandroid Backup is helpful if you are installing Custom ROM on your device. It takes a complete backup of your current device including the ROM and its settings. So, in case you have bricked the device you can restore the Nandroid Backup to unbrick your device.

Creating Nandroid Backup is as simple as installing zip mods from Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions listed below to create a Nandroid Backup of your device via TWRP Recovery.
Note: This process requires you to have either CWM/ TWRP Recovery installed on your device.

How to Create a Nandroid Backup using TWRP:

Step 1: Power off your device and boot into Recovery Mode.
Step 2: Tap on Backup and check all the partitions which you want to take a backup of.
Step 3: Choose the location where you want to save backup and Enable Compression.
Step 4: Swipe to begin the backup process.
That’s it now the backup process should start and create a Nandroid Backup of your device.

How to Restore Nandroid Backup via TWRP Recovery:

Step 1: Power off your device and boot into TWRP Recovery.
Step 2: Tap on Restore and select the Backup file that you want to restore.
Step 3: Swipe to confirm restore.
Step 4: A Process should start and restore your data and files.
That’s it with the restoration process.
If you have CWM Recovery or any other Custom Recovery installed, then look for backup and restore options to create a Nandroid Backup.
Note: The Backup created using TWRP Recovery can be restored only through TWRP Recovery and similar is the case with CWM and other Custom Recoveries.
